We promise — this isn’t your typical 2017 in review post! Why? Undoubtedly, you’ve seen a multitude of lists detailing some of the biggest world events that happened over the last year. But, if you’re like all of us at Osprey Apartments in the South Waterfront, you also like hearing about what’s going on right in your backyard.
Our beloved Rose City went through some incredible changes in 2017! And, as one of the premier luxury apartments in Portland, we’ve been lucky enough to have a front row seat for all the action. Now that everyone’s had the chance to digest the crazy excitement of last year, let’s take a moment to do a 2017 year in review of how Portland’s South Waterfront has expanded and improved!
The South Waterfront has been experiencing a massive transformation. In fact, it’s considered one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in the country. Due to several amazing projects, the area is well on its way to becoming an economic powerhouse and the most sought-after neighborhood in Portland:
More than 30 acres of industrial land is being transformed into a mixed-use development. This’ll include parks, restaurants, retail shops, a public square, and new commercial and residential complexes.
In true Portlander fashion, our 2017 in review includes a phenomenal plan to greatly reduce the City’s carbon footprint. The Green Loop will be a six-mile linear park that will connect Portland’s Central City Districts and generate beautiful walking, biking, and recreational spaces.
Advancements in Bioscience
OHSU, the largest employer in Portland, is in the process of constructing the Knight Cancer Institute Research Building and the Center for Health and Healing South. These facilities are slated for completion in 2018 and 2019, respectively. The expansion will result in new jobs, as well as essential developments in healthcare research and services.
The South Waterfront Became a Mecca for Foodies
Let’s be honest — this wouldn’t be a PDX-er 2017 in review if we didn’t talk about food. Some of Rose City’s best new restaurants have opened in, or just a quick jaunt away from, the South Waterfront over the past year:
- At Headwaters at the Heathman Hotel, just a short streetcar ride away from Osprey, you can savor delectable seafood dishes prepared by James Beard Award winner Chef Vitaly Paley.
- Heart Pizza fills bellies with mouthwatering pies while donating $1 of every pizza sold to nonprofits and charities.
- Q showcases a scrumptious menu that changes every single day so you’re basically experiencing a new restaurant with each visit.
We’re pretty proud of what we’ve accomplished with Osprey which is why it’s a part of our 2017 in review. We’ve worked hard at maintaining a reputation as the foremost South Waterfront apartments in Portland. We listened to what PDX-ers were really looking for in a community and created an urban oasis suitable for every kind of lifestyle.
Resident wants and needs inspire all our features including spacious, modern, and crisp apartment homes, a state-of-the-art gym, storage for bikes and outdoor gear, two outdoor courtyards (Central and Eastside Terrace), a fully-appointed Community Lounge, a Lobby Lounge with fireplace and coffee bar, and parking that’s available for purchase.
Plus, we’re not a set-it-and-forget-it type of operation. We encourage current and prospective residents as well as the general public to stay in touch with us via our new website. We’re constantly updating it with both Osprey and PDX news, and we’re always open to any questions and comments.
If you take away one thing from this 2017 in review, we hope it’s that you see there is something pretty spectacular brewing in the South Waterfront District. In our neck of the woods, residents not only benefit from a vibrant neighborhood that promotes innovation and growth, but also gorgeous apartment homes with purposeful amenities and designs. PDX-ers are surrounded by perfect spaces for working, socializing, connecting with nature, or just taking a moment to recharge. We’re overjoyed to be able to foster a community where Portlanders truly thrive!
