Way back in the ancient times of 2016, a new community of South Waterfront apartments was born. This young and eager community had an unusual philosophy: to listen carefully to what Portlanders were looking for in an apartment and base a whole community on those needs and wants. In case you’re wondering whom we’re talking about, it’s us, Osprey Apartments.
Looking at our community now, risen out of a South Waterfront lot that was empty just over 18 months ago, it’s almost hard to believe how far our community has come.
The fact of the matter is that we’re extremely proud to be a part of Portland and the South Waterfront neighborhood, and we couldn’t be happier with the unbeatable living experience we’re able to provide for our residents. That’s why we’ve decided to share a little bit about the incredible growth of our South Waterfront apartments! But first, let’s take a look at our humble beginnings.

The shots above depict Osprey in it’s final months of construction just prior to leasing…but it didn’t always look like this.
Before the images above were taken, the area was known as Block 37. From 2009 until 2013 Block 37 was the South Waterfront community Garden. After it was purchased by Mack Urban in early 2013, it took almost two years for designs and plans to finally be approved in August of 2014.
The Rise of Osprey
Our building was completed at the end of the 2016 Summer, and we began leasing just about a year ago in November 2016. Since then, we’ve welcomed tons of new residents to the Osprey family. Based on feedback we’ve gotten from those residents, the one thing that made Osprey more appealing than other Portland apartments was our incredible amenities and the clean, crisp designs of our apartment homes.
In the very early days of Osprey, there were a few amenities still getting some final touches, but it didn’t take long for the full vision to come into focus. And, again, it was all about what would matter most to PDX-ers. Here’s what truly makes the difference for Osprey’s residents:
Places for Your Bike and Outdoor Gear
We’re all in the Pacific Northwest, which means running, walking, paddling, and biking is the norm. Plus, Osprey’s South Waterfront apartments are right next door to the Willamette and the gorgeous South Waterfront Greenway. That’s why we thought it crucial for Osprey Apartments to have a space where residents can safely store the bikes and recreational gear they hold dear (rhyme not intended…kind of).
We’ll admit that it’s easy to find a gym. But, is it easy to find a gym where you don’t have to pay for a membership, and don’t have to leave home to reap the benefits? We won’t say “no”, but we’ll say “highly unlikely”. Our South Waterfront apartments have a 24/7 fully appointed fitness center that residents can use when and how they see fit.
Places for Living, Working, Relaxing, and Entertaining
Here’s the deal – we understand that “home” goes beyond a spot where you lay your head at night. We also know people want a place where they can work, comfortably entertain guests, and stretch out and relax whenever they want. All our social spaces boast free WIFI and some pretty amazing features:
- Lobby Lounge with fireplace and coffee bar
- Community Lounge with workstation, full kitchen, pool table, foosball, ping pong table, large flat screen TVs, and couches
- Eastside Terrace Courtyard with lounge chairs, BBQs, fire pits, and views of the Willamette, Ross Island, and Tillicum Bridge.
- Central Courtyard with lounge chairs, BBQs, fire pits, and outdoor cook and prep station
Phenomenal South Waterfront Apartments With a Phenomenal Look
We put a lot of time and effort into making sure our residents and guests feel welcomed, comfortable, and proud to be where they are. But, you don’t have to take our word for it – we’ll let your eyes do the talking for us:
The Kind of Place You’d Be Proud to Come Home To
Kitchen’s With a Clean, Crisp Feel
A Contemporary Look With Natural Tones…
A Crisp and Clean Aesthetic Where it Matters
A Connection to the Outdoors…
The Only South Waterfront Apartments With These Kinds of Views…
But Wait, There’s More!
We’re not a “set it and forget it” type of community. Staying connected is key in any relationship, right? That’s why we continuously keep PDX-ers linked to what’s happening in their City and neighborhood. And, we make it super easy to see what’s going on via our brand new Osprey website which was provided courtesy of Bonsai Media Group.
As you can see, we’ve got a good thing going on in our neck of the woods. And, we definitely intend to keep it that way. We’ll always work to be a completely resident-focused community!
