The South Waterfront area has become one of the most coveted neighborhoods in all of Portland, and it’s not just because Osprey Apartments opened last year ;).. In addition to all the fantastic dining and shopping spots, the South Waterfront also hosts a spectacular farmer’s market from June to October.

Every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., the South Waterfront Market will be filled with vendors connecting Portlanders to the best local farmers, artists, artisans, and musicians. If you’re unfamiliar with the event, don’t worry – since our Portland apartments are literally right around the corner from the bustle of the South Waterfront Farmers Market, we know it well. We have all the information you need!
At Osprey, we know how important sustainability and community is to Portlanders. That’s why, we are one of the major sponsors of the market, and we have an info table there every 3rd Thursday of the month.
Organizers are actually doing more than giving visitors access to fresh, high-quality foods and goods from local farms and producers; they’re also participants in the SNAP program, which is dedicated to providing nutritional assistance to low-income families. It’s an awesome Farmer’s Market that’s a part of a great cause.
Now that you know what (or who) the Market is, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of the vendors. While we can’t list them all, we’ll include some of our favorites here:
Alma Chocolate’s flagship store is about 10 minutes from Osprey Apartments so trust us when we say you have to eat this chocolate.
Nola’s brick-and-mortar location is also close to our Portland apartments. When we heard that their deliciously glazed donut-croissant hybrids were going to be at the Market, we just about lost our minds. In other words, they’re really, really good.
Looking for something more substantial? Brats, schnitzel, and spätzle should just about do it!
Scrumptious and refreshing organic ciders, meads, beers, and kombucha.
It’s pretty standard to see people all over the Market with gorgeous, pesticide-free, freshly-cut flowers. This is courtesy of Lor’s Family Farm.
But wait, there’s more…
Obviously, this isn’t an all-encompassing list of products and vendors. Luckily, you can search What’s in Season on the Market’s website. You simply enter in a product or vendor name and get a list of results that tells you what is available and when.
While you’re doing your Market rounds, let your ears be serenaded by the Market musicians. Here are a few of the upcoming shows:
- June 29: Gary Furlow & The Loafers is delighting crowds with a mix of jazz, soul, and Americana.
- July 20: Claes Almroth Trio is treating audiences to jazz music from the 20s.
- August 3: The Sportin’ Lifers are taking everyone back to a time of swing, boogie-woogie, and jive.
- August 31: The Lost Hawaiians are bringing island life to the Pacific Northwest with Hawaiian swing music.
- September 28: Alex Koehler is keeping it cool, smooth, and jazzy.
- October 26: Castletown will signal the end of the Market season with some traditional Irish folk music.
The South Waterfront neighborhood is a perfect complement to our Portland apartments. In addition to being super close to the Farmers Market, we are also under 10 minutes from downtown and right next door to the gorgeous natural landscapes of the South Waterfront Greenway and Willamette River. We call it “where urban meets oasis”.
Plus, when residents feel like they want to explore Portland further, there are several nearby public transportation options that make getting around the city a total breeze, like the MAX Orange Line. We are 1 block away from the The Portland Streetcar and Osprey Apartments actively sponsors 2 stations, which provides residents with the option of discounted daily or yearly passes – and we’re only 4 blocks from the OHSU Tram.
And, of course, when tenants aren’t painting the town red, they’re able to retreat to beautiful, comfortable apartments that boast modern designs and finishes, and incredible amenities and social spaces.
