It’s been a long, cold winter. Fortunately, all the gray, rain and snow will soon be a distant memory. The weather is starting to warm up, which means it’s time to start thinking about spring and summer fun. Lucky for you, Osprey Apartments has done research so you don’t have to. When that sun comes out in Portland, the South Waterfront is where you need to be! From our South Waterfront Portland apartments, we’ve watched the neighborhood grow into the best spot for experiencing Spring and Summer in Portland.
Stroll, Run or Take the Pooch for a Walk on the South Waterfront Greenway
This is a simple but gorgeous way to appreciate Portland in the spring and summer. The Greenway is an urban park stretching about a quarter mile along the Willamette River. As you go along the path, you get to take in views of the wildlife and water. If you can, pack a lunch and take some time to enjoy the extensive green spaces and overlooks of the River.
Go Kayaking or Stand Up Paddle Boarding on the Willamette River
Looking for a more intimate and active way to admire the River? Why not just jump in? It’s a cinch to rent a kayak or paddleboard through rental companies like Portland Kayak Company and Gorge Performance. At our South Waterfront Portland apartments, residents are highly encouraged to forge a relationship with the Willamette. We include an outdoor storage and gear room where tenants are free to store their recreational equipment.
Grab a Drink at One of These Epic Happy Hours
Sometimes, there’s no better way to relish afternoon warmth than with a cold drink in your hand. There are five happy hours that you absolutely must try:
- Aquariva is an excellent place to savor craft beer and wine, and it’s all against the backdrop of Willamette River views.
- Cha Cha Cha is an awesome spot for deals on margaritas and Mexican food. (Thankfully, it just happens to be 10 minutes from Osprey’s South Waterfront Portland apartments!)
- Departure offers great drinks, Japanese food and skyline views from the 15th floor of the Meier & Frank building.
- Imperial has an extensive and impressive happy hour menu filled with food, cocktails, beer and wine.
- Elephant’s on Corbett is one of the few restaurants that includes signature cocktails on their happy hour menu.
Bike Along the Waterfront Loop Trail
Biking is a big deal in Portland, and there are many amazing trails to conquer. One of the best is the 11-mile Waterfront Loop Trail. You just can’t beat the views of greenery and the Willamette River. You might even want to consider starting out at the Greenway near Osprey’s South Waterfront Portland apartments and then biking the two miles to the trail. That way, you can take in as much stunning scenery as possible.
Enjoy the South Waterfront Farmer’s Market
Beginning in June, the South Waterfront Farmer’s Market gives you the chance to get familiar with the best that Portland has to offer.
