Get a Free Donut at the Grand Opening of Blue Star’s South Waterfront Location – Saturday 10/8
Here’s a Portland event you can sink your teeth into. Blue Star Donuts is a purveyor of gourmet donuts that started up in Portland back in 2012. With one location in LA, Two in Japan, and Three currently open in Portland, they’re quickly growing in popularity and praise. And now, there’s a new location set to open in Portland’s South Waterfront – right around the corner from Osprey! To celebrate the grand opening of the new location, Blue Star is giving away FREE DONUTS (1 Per person) on Saturday 10/8, starting at 10am, until they run out! PDX City of Cider Festival – Friday/Saturday 10/14-15
Do you like Portland Based Cideries? How do you feel about fun portland events that benefit noble causes? If you answered in the affirmative, boy, have we got an event for you. The PDX City of Cider Festival celebrates Purveyors of Portland Ciders, Wines, and Beers while also working to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Head on down to the Portland Expo Center (just a quick 15 minutes up I-5 from Osprey) on 10/14-15 to sample some of the best Ciders the Rose City has to offer, including Portland Cider Co., 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Smith & Forge, and a ton more!
The best part of living in Portland is the way in which you’re able to support great causes while also having a great time, and no Portland event this October embodies that better than the PDX City of Cider Festival! Don’t Miss it!
Portland Veg Fest – Saturday/Sunday 10/22-23
Do you prefer a plant-based lifestyle? Are you curious about nutrition, environmentalism, animal activism, or all three at once? If so, The 7th Annual Portland VegFest is certainly up your alley. Head on to down to the Oregon Convention Center on Saturday 10/22 and Sunday 10/23 for free food samples and a ton more: keynote speakers discussing topics surrounding health, nutrition, environmentalism, and animal welfare; chef demonstrations; presentations on Fashion and Beauty; Fitness workouts; restaurants; Cooking demos; films; and fun activities for the whole family! There’s something for everyone!
Another fantastic aspect of life in Portland centers on the compassion and care that residents here carry with them in their daily lives. Kumoricon Fri/Sat/Sun 10/28-30
Back for its 14th year, Kumoricon promises to have its biggest year yet. Taking its namesake (kumori) from the Japanese word for “cloudy”, Kumoricon showcases the dedicated fandom surrounding anime and Japanese culture, while also celebrating the feeling of life in the Pacific Northwest. Over the past 14 years, anime fans across generations have gathered at Kumoricon to celebrate and share their fandom with one another. This year, Kumoricon is moving on up to the Oregon Convention Center, and they’re thrilled to host an anime convention that’s designed and operated with the fans in mind. The Convention has steadily grown each year – and now they’re the largest anime gathering in Oregon. What Portland event could be better for kicking off your Halloween weekend? Thrill The World Portland Saturday 10/29
Speaking of Halloween weekend, are you ready for this? Thrill the World is a global contingent of Michael Jackson Fans that hold a worldwide dance each year around Halloween. Fans from across the world do the Thriller Dance in unison to have some fun and honor the late Michael Jackson. This is the 9th year for Thrill the World Portland. The final location of the dance is still to be announced, so make sure to follow Thrill The World on Facebook for updates and for info on weekly practices.
Preparation and practicing for the dance is certainly part of the fun, but the feeling of being connected to like-minded people is what keeps folks coming back each year. If you aren’t the best dancer, no problem – whether you’re young, old, a pro, or a beginner, just adjust the routine to your own level! Dancing is great for all round fitness, and mental well-being. Plus, Thrill the World Portland acts as a fundraiser for SMYRC – a truly noble cause benefiting Portland’s youth.
